"Increasing my reach" is one of my top priorities with my online business, always, and it should be a priority for you too.
This is one of the reasons I teach people to "network" - which doesn't mean spamming, but rather making solid business connections, and collaborating with other market leaders in your niche or industry.

You'll find opportunities really open up for you if you have a product or service to offer. It doesn't have to be a complex high-end course or a $2,000 product. You can write a great short report even, and use that to participate in giveaways - or to offer as an incentive to increase your reach in many other ways.
A low cost report will convert well because of the price point, and with an affiliate program you can easily increase your reach exponentially with every affiliate you get on board.
Creating a product is not as hard as it sounds. Once you get started, it's actually pretty easy. I use the outline and methods Jonathan Leger taught in his "Write That Report" guide. It's still the easiest, most simplified method I've found - and I still use it to this day.

I'll be "attending" the NAMS event, although I don't actually attend the actual sessions. I taught workshops there for the first seven events in a row, but I'm no longer working with/at the event. It's a great opportunity for me to see and socialize with people once or twice a year I don't get to see in person otherwise, though - so I still love to go.

The "Business Kickstart" giveaway is somewhat affiliated with the event, or at least with speakers of the event. Given my history in front of that (live) audience, I contributed to the prizes and free downloads because I felt like my product would be well received given my "reputation" from the first 7 events where I was heavily involved.
How can YOU use that information? Simple: It doesn't have to revolve around live events. It's a matter of becoming known to the audiences of other influencers or market leaders. You can achieve this through interviews, guest posts, content market, collaborating with or joint venturing with those select people.
And then - follow up with something of value. Not as an unknown, but as someone who has invested the time and energy to become known and liked by those people. Of course you'll do it in a way that benefits the leader of that audience, and you'll make it of specific value TO that audience. That's a win/win/win - which should always be your goal. ;-)
Having even a free or low-cost report or product to offer in your niche gives you A LOT more leverage...
