3 Cool Things I learned at Savvy Blogging Summit
Published: Thu, 07/21/11
I just returned from the Savvy Blogging Summit in Colorado Springs. I learned A LOT, and also managed to lose my Macbook Pro (lol - ack!). You can read about that in my latest blog post: http://www.clicknewz.com/3025/live-event-objective/
I went to this event because I wanted to learn how these bloggers were connecting so well with brands and merchants. They're getting paid, cutting deals, testing products and getting sponsored... and I wanted the inside scoop on it all.
This was *definitely* the event to learn all about it!
Here are just 3 things I learned there that are very simple (and easy) to implement, yet I wasn't doing these things intentionally:
1. Jot down the brands or products you would like to work with. Build content that may fit in with that relationship later. Brands & Merchants are looking for bloggers via search engines, so optimize for the topics they're searching for.
2. Be proactive on social media channels. Brands are looking at your reach and how active you are there, and how your readers or followers interact with your content. Be on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, etc.
3. Strike up a conversation with the brands you like. Mention them in updates on Twitter conversationally. Comment on their Facebook Page, etc. Don't be spammy, simply get involved - and in front of them.
Like I said, simple - but very, very effective. ;-) And that's just three of the things I took away from the event and began implementing right away!
I have more tips & resources I'll be sharing on my blog (ClickNewz.com) in upcoming posts, including companies & networks where you can easily find top brands to work with.
I was really impressed with the Savvy Blogging Summit. So much so that I have already registered to attend again in October 2012. AND I ordered the entire 2010 event - which I missed last year.
The recordings are currently half price with the discount code "TheSprings"

That discount code is only good until July 23. It will get you 50% off plus you'll receive a free recording of Phil Hollow's 2011 Email Marketing session from last week's event.
Here's what all you'll receive on the download page. It's a screen shot of mine:
I got ALL of this for only $48.50 (half price) using "TheSprings" discount code. That includes the recordings shown here *plus* the presentations and worksheets. The code is still good for another 48 hours only, and you can download it all here:

I'm excited to go back over all of my notes, and also check out the content I just downloaded from the previous event. And of course, to attend again next year! Public Registration for the Oct 2012 event will open after Aug 5th I believe. I'll keep you posted...
In the meantime, consider the 3 tips above and how you can work that into your business model to make profitable connections with companies and brands!
